and enjoy your favourite recordings.
Sometimes, though, they are in really bad shape. Here's an audio example:

(noisy, muddy, narrow)
(crisp, balanced, wide)
You've finally found it. Years and years of searching and you finally found that rare, old tape recorded by an unknown person at that '76 concert in Munich. You sit down, close your eyes, press play and...
...it sounds noisy, unbalanced, muddy, boxy, harsh, inconsistent, whatever other derogatory terms you're thinking out loud right now (while grinding your teeth).
Live recordings and bootlegs (expecially old ones) are raw gems. What I do is polish them and bring their stories back to life.
Some of the steps involved are:
- split the song into its different components (crowd, voice, guitars, drums, background noise, etc)
- spectral analysis and referencing
- remove noise, crackles, hiss + overall repair and clean up
- improve tonal balance and stereo image (panning, EQ, mid/side processing, compression, etc)
- focus on details (gain automation, saturation, reverb, etc)
- in-studio check, final mixdown and (re)mastering
Please note that I do NOT offer any ripping service for your recordings. That's on you.
I only deal with digital files.
